Coffee shop loyalty: make the next visit feel worthwhile

A digital loyalty program gives café customers a way to collect progress toward a reward without carrying a paper card or downloading a separate loyalty app. Stamply combines digital wallet cards, staff-awarded visits or points and customer messaging to support repeat visits.

Choose one reward customers can explain

A clear program is easier to introduce at a busy counter. Decide whether a visit earns a stamp or spending earns points, then choose a free-item or amount-off reward that fits your margin. State the qualifying purchase and redemption terms clearly. Start with one simple rule rather than several overlapping offers that staff have to interpret.

Make enrolment part of the counter experience

Place the shop QR code where customers can see it while waiting. Explain what the reward is and invite them to enrol and save their card to a supported wallet. There is no separate loyalty app to download. Staff should practice the flow on an actual customer device before launch; wallet availability and notification behaviour should be checked during onboarding.

Award the visit consistently

Use the employee portal to find or open the customer and award the eligible visit or points. Keep the qualifying rules consistent between employees and shifts. Before redemption, check the reward record so the customer receives the correct benefit. Review unusual awards and reversals rather than assuming every record reflects a completed purchase.

Give customers a reason to return

Use wallet or email messaging for a useful reminder, such as progress toward a reward, a birthday offer or a relevant broadcast. Avoid sending the same discount to everyone every day. Choose a message, audience and clear action; then review subsequent visits. A visit after a campaign is not by itself proof that the campaign caused it.

Calculate the reward economics

Track repeat visits, reward redemptions and contribution after variable costs and rewards. As a hypothetical example, $5 contribution from each genuinely additional visit means six additional visits cover a $30 monthly fee. At $45, nine cover the fee. This excludes setup effort and other costs, and it is not a forecast or a claim that Stamply creates those visits.

Launch with a small pilot

Train the counter team, test enrolment and redemption, and review the first month before expanding your offers. Stamply Basic is $30 CAD per month with unlimited wallet notifications and 5,000 emails per month. The $45 CAD plan adds 500 SMS per month. See the pricing page and confirm wallet support and sending setup in your demo.

Common questions

Before you get started.

Do customers need a separate loyalty app?

No separate loyalty app is required. Customers enrol and save their loyalty card to a supported digital wallet.

Should a café use stamps or points?

Stamps can be easier to explain when qualifying purchases are similar. Spend-based points can suit varied order values. Choose the approach that fits your margins and explain the rules clearly.
